Today's Card:
XIX - The Sun
Meaning according to the booklet:
Section#1: Glory. Gain. Riches. Triumph. Pleasure. Truth. Shamelessness. Manifestation. Recovery. Arrogance. Vanity
Section #2: This card represents the Lord of the new Aeon, the Lord of Light, Life, Liberty and Love, ad the complete emancipation of the human race. The green mound represents the fertile earth, but the presence of a wall shows that the new Aeon does not mean the absence of control. The twin children are represented as dancing outside the wall, because they typify the new stage in human history, the stage of complete freedom from the restrictions imposed by such ideas as sin and death.
Section #3: Sun. Resh. This card shows the simple human approach to the mysteries. The Sun is the lord of life, liberty and love. The children are dancing with butterfly wings. They are surrounded by the signs of the Zodiac, showing the different houses through which the sun passes.
Meaning to me:
Could something new be starting in my life soon? Again, another card of change, but this time the result of that change. The manifestation of the changes that I'm making starting. Is it all going to happen today? No, but through the actions that I'm taking (see yesterday's draw), these are going to be the results.

Knight (or King) of Swords.
Note: For the Thoth Deck, the Ranks are Knight, Queen, Prince and Princess. In the Robin Wood deck, the Ranks are King, Queen, Knight and Page. For this pull, Knight of Swords is the same as King of Swords. The description is coming from the Thoth deck and may not represent the RW deck properly.
Meaning according to the booklet:
Section#1: The fiery part of air. An active man, skillful and clever. Fierce and courageous, but often un-reflective. A man incapable of decision, deceitful an over-bearing.
Section #2: Represents the fiery part of air, wind and storm; the violent power of motion applied o a manageable element. He is represented as a warrior with a helmet bearing a revolving wing, and mounted on a maddened steed. He carries a Sword and a Poniard.
Section #3: Dashing through the air this knight embodies all the winds of heaven.
Meaning to me:
With the change cards that have kept appearing throughout last month (can you believe that it's already march?), I think that it's time for me to start to take action. As the Knight (King) is seen as an active man, that's what I need to start becoming, a man of action. Time to start doing things that move my body. That's what's important for this month. That I think will be the theme of this month. Movement and action.

II - The Priestess
Meaning according to the booklet:
Section#1: Pure, exalted and gracious influence enters the matter, bringing change, alternation, increase and decrease, fluctuation. Exuberance should be tempered and careful balance maintained.
Section #2: She is Isis, the eternal virgin, and again she is Artemis. It is for this reason she is clothed in the luminous veil of light, light being viewed not as the manifestation, but as the veil, of the spirit.
Section #3: The Moon. Gimel. She is a spiritual Isis and a virgin Artemis. With her veil of light , she is weaving the crystals and fruits of the Earth. She carries the huntress' bow and the musical sistrum.
Meaning to me:
Everything is telling me change is coming. Time after time, change is coming. Two of my draws have been the change card. So what must I do to make this change come? That's what I have the question about. Maybe it is time to pull out a bit more magick and start working it a bit harder. As well as working myself a lot harder.

VIII - Adjustment
Meaning according to the booklet:
Section #1: Adjustment. Justice. Balance. Adjustment. Suspension of action pending decision. May refer to lawsuits, trials, marriages, contracts, etc.
Section #2: ...or traditionally Justice. This card represents the Woman satisfied. This condition is symbolized by the scales, in which she weighs the universe: Alpha, the first, exactly balances against Omega, the last. these scales represent the two "witnesses." Each "witness" is an authentic manifestation of Maya, the one fulfilling the other by the process of contradiction, for nature is not Justice - she is rather through her process of equilibrium "la Justesse." Finally, this Woman is the original Harlequin, for the wild blend of color and movement resolves itself into an equilibrium of all possibilities of sensation.
Section #3: Adjustment. Libra. Teth. Traditionally called Justice, the new name is a literal translation of the French "Justesse," this is Equilibrium. She is balancing from the headdress of Isis the scales in which are the bubbles of Maya, illusions typifying the transitory quality of human justice. the whole picture represents balance by opposites. The diamond patterning foreshadows the balancing Harlequin of the Commedia del l'Arte.
Meaning to me:
Adjustment and balance has never been a static thing for me. It always requires movement, and I think that for me that is what this card is telling me. For me to find balance in life, I need to start moving finally. I'm good at what I do when I sit down and work, but I'm not very good when I move. So it's time to start moving through life rather than sitting down and working on life. Not quite the meaning that comes through by the book, but when have I ever gone by the book?

The prince conveys two ideas, once simply hail, the other the restriction of the scientific outlook, which uses, but limits the imagination which is shown in the harnessed fays.
Meaning to me:
The card makes no real sense to me today, but I'm not really in the best of moods to read. I did add from a second section of the "meaning" booklet from the cards. There are actually 3 sections of the booklet, and I've been just using the first. Maybe I'll bring out all 3 tomorrow.

Virtue. Established strength. Success after struggle. Pride and arrogance. Realization of hope. Conceit.
Meaning to me:
When I read "virtue" I had to laugh. As I tell most people (and for those who know me can tell you), I'm one of the least virtuous people that you will ever meet. But the other meanings of this card, Success after struggle, Realization of Hope, are things that I'm looking at and going, yeah, that is something that I'm in need of, and something that I hope will come to fruition today. We shall see what happens today. I do have a few important phone calls and decisions that I need to make today.

For all that materialism that I can gain, there still is nothing better that good friends.

The Root of the Power of Earth. Maerial gain. Power. Labor. Wealth. contentment. Materialism
Meaning to me:
Ahh materialism. I do miss that somewhat. I know that sounds bad, but having been without a job for going on 6 months now, I miss not having enough money to go and play poker, or buy the latest gadget, or just take my g/f out to dinner. For that matter, I miss not having to means to just provide a stable house for myself and my dogs, and an way to keep Grotto Radio on the air in it's current form. I have often said that you need to take care of yourself before you can take care of others. It's getting harder for me to take care of myself, and that much harder to care for others.
Lesson from yesterdays card (8 of Cups - Indolence):
I've been being lazy and letting things slide as of late. I need to stop that and start getting myself back. This card was a good motivational card for me to wake me up. .

Meaning to me:
This would be me as of the last couple of days. Especially today. I have been finding myself starting to do some things that are keeping me from being as successful as I'd like to be. Not going to the gym. Not even doing my morning stretches like I have been. And it has me wondering about things like Grotto Radio, and wondering if this was just a flash in the pan. After all I've been doing this for over 3 years now, and really haven't seen the success that I was hoping for from it. It's has it's immediate goal of getting some attention, but how many true listeners are there out there? I'm really am stuck right now and not sure which way to go.

We had some success after the chili cook-off, but some issues arose yesterday. Today, I'm going to make sure that we get everything to work and that's before 10:30am this morning. So between my boss and I, we have to get this working. I think we this new idea, it will. And it will properly. So here is to fixing things.

Meaning to me:
I have never liked pulled court cards for myself. They usually mean people, but I'm not sure if they mean people coming into my life, or if they are people already in my life. The last 3 words might be better to discribe what is going on with me in general. But I'm not sure how well those are discribing me lately. So I guess for today, I just need to keep my eye out for an adaptable woman with unending energy, who might be able to attract some power my way.
Lesson from yesterdays card (9 of Disks: Gain):
Well I did learn alot yesterday from that card. Realized that gain does not mean gain in the way of money, but also of knowledge. I usually draw these cards right after feeding my dogs, so most times, I'm still not fully awake enough to appreciate what is being said to me. That is why I'm now doing this section. Found out that I need to be patient a bit more with the job I interviewed with. Be a few more weeks before I know anything. Which is a bummer. But I'll keep in touch and see what goes on.

I haven't been looking for other jobs yet, because I feel this new job is such a good fit. Maybe this is the good fortune that I've been working and waiting for? Or maybe it's just time for me to sit in front of a slot machine or blackjack table and see if I can win anything. I hope it's not the inheritance part. Interesting that this card comes up again. I usually don't get the same card in such a short period of time. So what does it mean coming up twice. I'm not sure. Maybe it's just time to make a very radical change? I'm not sure. I do know that I'm on the melancholy side of my emotions. Seems that I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Not sure why I'm cranky, but I am. Maybe that's what I need to change?

A mystery to me on why this would show up now. Although the last statement is what has been going on with me lately. I've taken some very great care in some areas of my life, but there are other parts of my life that lay in ruin and disorder that I should take care of. Maybe my energy has been a bit unfocused as of late. I have several things going on in my life right now. And I do seem to be focusing a lot of my energy on stuff that isn't putting money in my wallet or food on the table. But I do put my energy out there. Maybe my intent when I work and ask for stuff needs to be a bit more clear. We'll see what this day brings. It's a long one. In the studio at 10:30am and I leave the studio at 9:30pm. Breaks in between of course, but still a long day. We'll see what the day brings and how this card plays into the day.

Here sits a man victorious. Over most everything. The benevolent ruler of all that he sees. The man that you just can't help but admire because of what he has accomplished. There is kindness in his actions, but you know that underneath there is still that warrior that can lash out at his subjects at a whim. In some ways, I wish that was me. And in some ways it is becoming me more and more. I'm having victory over victory lately and my life is becoming more stable. I am finally becoming ruler over my own world again. The universe (however slowly) is starting to finally bend to my will. Things that I would not have thought possible years ago are now coming true. But I also have to remember to be careful of Arrogance, Megalomania and Rashness and to always remember to keep things in balance (good thing I've got a Libra moon).

Add into that the creative part of it and the prosperous part of it, and it's still pretty simple. Right now it just means that the hard work and the sacrafice that I've put forth in the past is going to be finally rewarded. And in a good financial way. How that is going to happen, I don't know yet. But time will tell. But is it material wealth? I already have and am thankful for the wealth of friendship and support that I have in my life currently. And although material wealth might not make you happy, it sure the hell can't hurt. I don't know why this saying popped into my head, but it just seems to be screaming to be put out there. Whoever said that money can't buy happiness never bought a puppy (or in my case, paid the fees to the shelter and brought home a puppy).
In case you are wondering about my techique for drawing. I'm shuffling the cards the number of days of the month (today would have been 14 times, and then I pick that day in the deck (the 14th card from the top today). Towards the end of the month, there is a lot of shuffling and counting, but it balances out. Just seems to work for me, and that's what counts.

Meaning to me:
This card is one of those simple cards that end up having more meaning that I put into it. The basic idea of wealth is simple. Redemption through sacrifice. New perspectives. Punishment. Loss. Defeat. Failure. Suffering.
Meaning to me:
To me, this card has always meant waiting. Suspension of time and space. Which is what I'm going through right now with my potential for a new job. "Redeption through sacrifice" is interesting, because I have sacraficed a lot over the last few months, and even years. Maybe it is time now for my reward. Who knows. "New perspectives" is something that I have gathered having been out of work for the last 6 months. A better perspective on money and how to handle it. "Punishment. Loss. Defeat. Faulure. Suffering" are things that I have been working through. So with all cards, is this a glimpse into the past, the present or the future, or just tapping into my mindset as of late.
Thank you to everone that has sent me good energy over the last couple of days. I'm still in the dark about what's going to happen, but I wanted to tell everyone that you are greatly appreciated. As soon as I have news about what's next, I'll let you know.

I would pull this card of all days. Today is my big interview for a very well paying job doing what I used to day (Lotus Notes Development). It is the "perfect job" that I put out to the universe a little while back. I put out that I wanted a Lotus Notes position that paid me close to (or over) what I made at my last job. Let me work from home a couple of days a week, and allows me to keep doing what I enjoy doing on the side. Well that's what this job interview is all about today. It's a Lotus Notes Developer position for the government that needs me in the office 3 days a week and the other two I can work from home. It's a perfect job. And I really didn't go out and seek it, it came to me. There is the passive success that this card also represents. So I think it's going to be a great day today.
So for all of those who are reading this today and have the energy to give, please shoot some good positive energy to me today around 12pm PST. That's when these interviews start!

Meaning to me:
As I sit here and think about when I first pulled the card, I thought victory. Finally overcoming what I have been going through. But conquest really does seem to be a more appropriate word. I have finally conquered the demons that have held me back and I'm starting to make sure that I go forward with my life. What was it from "Meet The Robinsons"? Keep moving forward. No matter how many failures you have, you brush yourself off and keep moving forward. And that's what I am doing.
So keep moving forward and come back tomorrow to see what I pick next and how it affects my life.

Tarot Card of the Day - 2010/02/10
I have decided to start doing some daily blogging based off of a daily Tarot card.
I'll eventually have my scanner up so I can scan the card so you cansee it. I use the Thoth Deck (or Crowley Deck as some liked to callit).
So here is today's card:
2 of Disks.
Meaning according to the booklet that comes with the deck:
Change. Harmony. Alternating gain and loss, weakness and strength, elation and melancholy. Varying occupation. Wandering. Visit to friends. Pleasant change. Industrious, yet unreliable.
Meaning to me:
It's been a rough time lately for me with trying to find work. Most people look at what I used to make and feel that I'm not a good fit for jobs because I made too much money in the past. I just got turned down for a job over at a casino because even though I was the most qualified for the job, the person interviewing me just felt that I would not be a good fit for the position. I was told that was meaning that I was "overqualified," whatever that means. So there is my elation and melancholy. My strength and my weakness. But I thing good change is coming soon. I have another job interview on Friday (this one over the phone) and this is for a job doing stuff that I have been doing for the last 15 years. What will happen? I don't know. I'm just going to have faith in myself that I will find what is best for me.
Come back tomorrow and see what I pull and what it means to me. Also, I should have the next Grotto Radio Live recording up by the end of the day today.
