Initiation Class Begins

The Wiccans of the Mojave Desert Seminary will hold an open house
for those interested in checking us out.

During this orientation class,
we will conduct the required face to face interviews
and hand out the testing required to join the class.
Tests will be due back at the following week's orientation.
If you are accepted, classes will be held every Thursday starting at 7 pm.

Also, during this open house,
we will give a quick synopsis of what Wicca is,
what we will be teaching,
how we will be teaching it,
what will be required of you,
and what you can expect of us.
We look forward to meeting you and your friends.

XIX - The Sun

Meaning according to the booklet:

Section#1: Glory. Gain. Riches. Triumph. Pleasure. Truth. Shamelessness. Manifestation. Recovery. Arrogance. Vanity

Section #2: This card represents the Lord of the new Aeon, the Lord of Light, Life, Liberty and Love, ad the complete emancipation of the human race. The green mound represents the fertile earth, but the presence of a wall shows that the new Aeon does not mean the absence of control. The twin children are represented as dancing outside the wall, because they typify the new stage in human history, the stage of complete freedom from the restrictions imposed by such ideas as sin and death.

Section #3: Sun. Resh. This card shows the simple human approach to the mysteries. The Sun is the lord of life, liberty and love. The children are dancing with butterfly wings. They are surrounded by the signs of the Zodiac, showing the different houses through which the sun passes.

Meaning to me:

Could something new be starting in my life soon? Again, another card of change, but this time the result of that change. The manifestation of the changes that I'm making starting. Is it all going to happen today? No, but through the actions that I'm taking (see yesterday's draw), these are going to be the results.

Meaning to me:

When I read "virtue" I had to laugh. As I tell most people (and for those who know me can tell you), I'm one of the least virtuous people that you will ever meet. But the other meanings of this card, Success after struggle, Realization of Hope, are things that I'm looking at and going, yeah, that is something that I'm in need of, and something that I hope will come to fruition today. We shall see what happens today. I do have a few important phone calls and decisions that I need to make today.

For all that materialism that I can gain, there still is nothing better that good friends.

Meaning to me:

Ahh materialism. I do miss that somewhat. I know that sounds bad, but having been without a job for going on 6 months now, I miss not having enough money to go and play poker, or buy the latest gadget, or just take my g/f out to dinner. For that matter, I miss not having to means to just provide a stable house for myself and my dogs, and an way to keep Grotto Radio on the air in it's current form. I have often said that you need to take care of yourself before you can take care of others. It's getting harder for me to take care of myself, and that much harder to care for others.

Lesson from yesterdays card (8 of Cups - Indolence):

I've been being lazy and letting things slide as of late. I need to stop that and start getting myself back. This card was a good motivational card for me to wake me up. .

Meaning to me:

This would be me as of the last couple of days. Especially today. I have been finding myself starting to do some things that are keeping me from being as successful as I'd like to be. Not going to the gym. Not even doing my morning stretches like I have been. And it has me wondering about things like Grotto Radio, and wondering if this was just a flash in the pan. After all I've been doing this for over 3 years now, and really haven't seen the success that I was hoping for from it. It's has it's immediate goal of getting some attention, but how many true listeners are there out there? I'm really am stuck right now and not sure which way to go.

Interesting card to have here today. I'm up a bit early, and not going to spend a lot of time here today as I need to be at work as soon as I can be to fix some computer equipment. We had some success after the chili cook-off, but some issues arose yesterday. Today, I'm going to make sure that we get everything to work and that's before 10:30am this morning. So between my boss and I, we have to get this working. I think we this new idea, it will. And it will properly. So here is to fixing things.

Maybe, just maybe, I'm going to get some rest today. Maybe not. Maybe there will be some completion to something in my life. It's actually too early in the day right now for me to give this card much meaning.

Great, another woman showing up in my who I dont know what to do with. Actually I am greatful for all the women that have come into my life. And there are a lot of women who come into my life. I love to have beauty in my life, and I appreciate the beauty that women bring into my life. I have only encountered one ugly woman in all of my travels (and physically she was a knockout).

Really am not sure what I learned from yesterdays card, except for what I'm saying now. I truely appreciate all the women I have encountered in my life.

Meaning to me:

I have never liked pulled court cards for myself. They usually mean people, but I'm not sure if they mean people coming into my life, or if they are people already in my life. The last 3 words might be better to discribe what is going on with me in general. But I'm not sure how well those are discribing me lately. So I guess for today, I just need to keep my eye out for an adaptable woman with unending energy, who might be able to attract some power my way.

Lesson from yesterdays card (9 of Disks: Gain):

Well I did learn alot yesterday from that card. Realized that gain does not mean gain in the way of money, but also of knowledge. I usually draw these cards right after feeding my dogs, so most times, I'm still not fully awake enough to appreciate what is being said to me. That is why I'm now doing this section. Found out that I need to be patient a bit more with the job I interviewed with. Be a few more weeks before I know anything. Which is a bummer. But I'll keep in touch and see what goes on.

Meaning to me:

I guess to say that I like this card would be a bit silly, because after all who wouldn't? So, what to do with it is my question. I still haven't heard back from my interview yet. I haven't been looking for other jobs yet, because I feel this new job is such a good fit. Maybe this is the good fortune that I've been working and waiting for? Or maybe it's just time for me to sit in front of a slot machine or blackjack table and see if I can win anything. I hope it's not the inheritance part. My family is small enough as it stands, I don't want to have it any smaller.

Meaning to me:
Interesting that this card comes up again. I usually don't get the same card in such a short period of time. So what does it mean coming up twice. I'm not sure. Maybe it's just time to make a very radical change? I'm not sure. I do know that I'm on the melancholy side of my emotions. Seems that I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Not sure why I'm cranky, but I am. Maybe that's what I need to change?

Meaning according to the booklet:

Interference. Misdirected energy. Neglect of important matters. Lack of persistence. Unforeseen bad luck. Restriction. Great care in some areas, disorder in others.

Meaning to me:

A mystery to me on why this would show up now. Although the last statement is what has been going on with me lately. I've taken some very great care in some areas of my life, but there are other parts of my life that lay in ruin and disorder that I should take care of. Maybe my energy has been a bit unfocused as of late. I have several things going on in my life right now. And I do seem to be focusing a lot of my energy on stuff that isn't putting money in my wallet or food on the table. But I do put my energy out there. Maybe my intent when I work and ask for stuff needs to be a bit more clear. We'll see what this day brings. It's a long one. In the studio at 10:30am and I leave the studio at 9:30pm. Breaks in between of course, but still a long day. We'll see what the day brings and how this card plays into the day.

Meaning to me:

Here sits a man victorious. Over most everything. The benevolent ruler of all that he sees. The man that you just can't help but admire because of what he has accomplished. There is kindness in his actions, but you know that underneath there is still that warrior that can lash out at his subjects at a whim. In some ways, I wish that was me. And in some ways it is becoming me more and more. I'm having victory over victory lately and my life is becoming more stable. I am finally becoming ruler over my own world again. The universe (however slowly) is starting to finally bend to my will. Things that I would not have thought possible years ago are now coming true. But I also have to remember to be careful of Arrogance, Megalomania and Rashness and to always remember to keep things in balance (good thing I've got a Libra moon).

10 of Disks

Meaning according to the booklet:

Wealth. Prosperity. Creativity. Old Age. Influenced: Laziness. Indifference. Dullness of Mind

Meaning to me:

This card is one of those simple cards that end up having more meaning that I put into it. The basic idea of wealth is simple. Add into that the creative part of it and the prosperous part of it, and it's still pretty simple. Right now it just means that the hard work and the sacrafice that I've put forth in the past is going to be finally rewarded. And in a good financial way. How that is going to happen, I don't know yet. But time will tell. But is it material wealth? I already have and am thankful for the wealth of friendship and support that I have in my life currently. And although material wealth might not make you happy, it sure the hell can't hurt. I don't know why this saying popped into my head, but it just seems to be screaming to be put out there. Whoever said that money can't buy happiness never bought a puppy (or in my case, paid the fees to the shelter and brought home a puppy).

In case you are wondering about my techique for drawing. I'm shuffling the cards the number of days of the month (today would have been 14 times, and then I pick that day in the deck (the 14th card from the top today). Towards the end of the month, there is a lot of shuffling and counting, but it balances out. Just seems to work for me, and that's what counts.

XII - The Hanged Man

Meaning according to the booklet:

Redemption through sacrifice. New perspectives. Punishment. Loss. Defeat. Failure. Suffering.

Meaning to me:

To me, this card has always meant waiting. Suspension of time and space. Which is what I'm going through right now with my potential for a new job. "Redeption through sacrifice" is interesting, because I have sacraficed a lot over the last few months, and even years. Maybe it is time now for my reward. Who knows. "New perspectives" is something that I have gathered having been out of work for the last 6 months. A better perspective on money and how to handle it. "Punishment. Loss. Defeat. Faulure. Suffering" are things that I have been working through. So with all cards, is this a glimpse into the past, the present or the future, or just tapping into my mindset as of late.

Thank you to everone that has sent me good energy over the last couple of days. I'm still in the dark about what's going to happen, but I wanted to tell everyone that you are greatly appreciated. As soon as I have news about what's next, I'll let you know.

Meaning to me:
I would pull this card of all days. Today is my big interview for a very well paying job doing what I used to day (Lotus Notes Development). It is the "perfect job" that I put out to the universe a little while back. I put out that I wanted a Lotus Notes position that paid me close to (or over) what I made at my last job. Let me work from home a couple of days a week, and allows me to keep doing what I enjoy doing on the side. Well that's what this job interview is all about today. It's a Lotus Notes Developer position for the government that needs me in the office 3 days a week and the other two I can work from home. It's a perfect job. And I really didn't go out and seek it, it came to me. There is the passive success that this card also represents. So I think it's going to be a great day today.

So for all of those who are reading this today and have the energy to give, please shoot some good positive energy to me today around 12pm PST. That's when these interviews start!

Ace of Swords

Meaning according to the booklet that comes with the deck:

The Root of the Powers of Air. Invoked force. Power for good or evil. Conquest. Activity. Strength through trouble. Just punishment.

Meaning to me:
As I sit here and think about when I first pulled the card, I thought victory. Finally overcoming what I have been going through. But conquest really does seem to be a more appropriate word. I have finally conquered the demons that have held me back and I'm starting to make sure that I go forward with my life. What was it from "Meet The Robinsons"? Keep moving forward. No matter how many failures you have, you brush yourself off and keep moving forward. And that's what I am doing.

So keep moving forward and come back tomorrow to see what I pick next and how it affects my life.

I have decided to start doing some daily blogging based off of a daily Tarot card.

I'll eventually have my scanner up so I can scan the card so you cansee it. I use the Thoth Deck (or Crowley Deck as some liked to callit).

So here is today's card:

2 of Disks.

Meaning according to the booklet that comes with the deck:

Change. Harmony. Alternating gain and loss, weakness and strength, elation and melancholy. Varying occupation. Wandering. Visit to friends. Pleasant change. Industrious, yet unreliable.

Meaning to me:
It's been a rough time lately for me with trying to find work. Most people look at what I used to make and feel that I'm not a good fit for jobs because I made too much money in the past. I just got turned down for a job over at a casino because even though I was the most qualified for the job, the person interviewing me just felt that I would not be a good fit for the position. I was told that was meaning that I was "overqualified," whatever that means. So there is my elation and melancholy. My strength and my weakness. But I thing good change is coming soon. I have another job interview on Friday (this one over the phone) and this is for a job doing stuff that I have been doing for the last 15 years. What will happen? I don't know. I'm just going to have faith in myself that I will find what is best for me.

Come back tomorrow and see what I pull and what it means to me. Also, I should have the next Grotto Radio Live recording up by the end of the day today.
